Lewisham People's Day 2009

Thank you to everyone who visited the Conservative Party's stand at Lewisham People's Day in Mountfield Park, Rushey Green, on Saturday 11 July.

I talked to a great many people on the day - some wanted to discuss our policies; some took away membership forms; some came to see what we're all about; some even wanted to get into philosophical debate. A lot of young people came to talk. Young people do seem to identify with David Cameron's Conservative Party.

I also made a big effort to get out and talk to people at other community groups' stands. People had gone to a lot of effort to promote their organisations and I learnt a lot about Lewisham and its communities by visiting those stands.

Also with me on the day were members of my team and Gemma Townsend, the Conservative candidate for Lewisham Deptford.

We were really pleased by the number of people who dropped by to talk to us and to wish us luck. Thank you.
